“Bakit ako Nahihiya?” Breaking Free from the Bondage of Shame

“Bakit ako Nahihiya?” Breaking Free from the Bondage of Shame Jonathan Hunter, who was diagnosed HIV+ after becoming a Christian is fully qualified to speak on the effects of shame and spirit of death. Debbie Driscoll, a cancer survivor and one who experienced sexual abuse as a child, knows first hand the effects of shame, self-hatred, and the spirit of death. Neil Driscoll, a man who came out of drug and sexual addiction, has been personally acquainted with shame and the spirit of death as they often were given rule over his mind and heart.

This team of Embracing Life Ministries came to Manila with the mission of sharing the hope and life that is available to all of us who believe in and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the son of God. Many, if not most of us Christians, live with a freedom not experienced by the world, but we don’t FULLY access the freedom and life, which God intended when coming into relationship with Jesus Christ.
With authenticity, grace, assurance, hope, and joy, these three ministers challenged, encouraged, lead, and exhorted such groups around Manila as Living Waters, Victory churches, Companions with the Poor, Positive Ministry at Christ Commission Fellowship, and many churches around the Philippines at the More Life Conference, Bakit ako Nahihiya? Breaking Free from the Bondage of Shame. Being under the rule and influence of others for so many years has left the Filipinas open and vulnerable to such things as shame, self-hatred, and the spirit of death. Being measured and defined by the standard of others, fosters an environment void of confidence, self-respect, and value. The team from Embracing Life Ministry saw beyond this hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness, to the beauty of the heart and soul buried beneath. With each encounter, the team was able to redirect the thoughts and beliefs to the cross and Jesus
so that Truth and Life may be heard. Living Waters Philippines, NFS, and Embracing Life Ministries partnered together in order to bring this message of hope and life to those all over the country of the Philippines. Those in attendance were lead to access and identify those shaming words, which lead to
emotional and spiritual stunted and handicapped ways of belief and living. They then were directed to take those words of death to the very source of our salvation, the cross of Jesus Christ. Jesus was then asked to speak His words of Life in replacement of those words of death and debilitation. Lives were powerfully touched as lies were dispelled and Truth was received.
Let us be reminded that this process of transformation, however, is not a one-time occurrence. As we have learned to walk and operate daily from the perspective of lies and the influences of the spirit of death, we must daily choose to hear Jesus’ words of Life.

May we, in full confidence of the healing power of Jesus, inquire of and deliberately choose
His words of LIFE. You are loved, valued, and fully accepted by Jesus this very moment. Enjoy His Life which is also yours!!!
